a once long domain name

0000000000000000000000.com

I’ve had this domain for a long time it feels.  I just renewed it today.  Someday I’ll put something on it.
When I purchased this domain on 1998.12.18 it was unique, in that it was the most amount of zero’s you could have in the domain name within the .com TLD.  Twenty-Two Zero’s period com for a total of 26 characters.

Of course things changed over the years, and the domain name system changed and grew up, to support more characters for the second level as of the pool of available names started to dry up and eventually support languages and characters other than English.

I got the idea for this domain after seeing one of the customers at the company I was working at, purchased lots of domain names which included many 0′s and “-” marks for at the time, search engines regarded these characters for higher ranking in the alphabetical sense.

Now there is a limit much higher than just the original 26 characters.  63 Characters + .com = 67 Characters.

The new zero domain, unfortunately is not mine.

cingular rate hike

I saw this on howardforums.com a couple weeks ago, it’s also been floating around the blogosphere, and I’ve been waiting till I got my bill to blog about this.

Since Cingular decided to be greedy bastards and charge everyone more for their shitty Pay Per Use text messaging, thereby voiding my current contract with them, it is time to either change carriers with my number, or move to a less expensive plan, which they do not have.  Likely a pre-pay will work out best for me if I can find one which does not expire my usage which I’ve paid for.

I just tried calling Cingular to get the process started, but they’re closed on the weekends, pfft.

From my online bill.

Text & Instant Message Pay Per Use Rate Change
Effective 1/21/07, Cingular will charge $0.15 for text and
instant messages sent or received on a pay-per-use basis. If you
already subscribe to a Messaging Package or Media Bundle, there
is no change to your rate. By purchasing a Messaging Package or
MEdia Bundle, you can send and receive messages for as little as
a penny. Sign up & save at www.cingular.com/getmessaging or Dial

*NOW from your wireless phone.

I don’t use many minutes at all. Last month only 123 minutes. I currently have 3,670 rollover minutes. What a waste considering I pay $46.02 every cycle unless I receive or send a text message which isn’t often. I hate receiving wrong number texts since they cost me money, when it was still AT&T Wireless incoming texts were free. The last time I sent a text message was quite some time ago. This is completely unfair as all they want to do is increase the amount of money each customer makes them, by forcing them into a feature which costs an extra $5, $10, or more per month, so they can say that texts cost just pennies per message.

Fucking Ridiculous.

All I want from a provider is my phone number, with a decent very low usage rate plan, and no extra charge for roaming because unfortunately the service around where I live in Sierra Vista has issues with this.  I would love to have a new phone with wifi capabilities and maybe even bluetooth, but I’m broke, so I’d probably have to get into another contract again.

Not that anyone really reads this crap that I write, but…
Any suggestions on where to move my service to?
