Do they really pay any attention?

Here I am, sitting in pain, with my mental energy stirring up a tornado in my brain, because of the lack of concern with how I feel from the insurance company. Here is an email I just sent, I’ll be sure to post his reply. Which will undoubtedly be days away, due to my low priority in the scheme of things. I just love to show examples of how this system is failing me.

The list of Doctors which I got from the National Fibromyalgia Association, apparently doesn’t contain anyone who accepts Workers Compensation Cases. So Roderick emails me regarding an appointment to see a Fibromyalgia Specialist in Irvine.

I am not able to find any doctor on the list you gave me who is familiar with workers’ compensation cases. I have scheduled an evaluation for you by a rheumatologist who also specializes in fibromyalgia on 7-15-04. His name is Dr. Robert Freed and he is in Irvine. He is the closest doctor I can find who can schedule it soonest. There is another doctor in San Diego but is scheduling deep into the summer. I will send out the appointment notice next week.

This is from an email I sent on June 6th, 2004.

Hi Roderick,

It’s a shame no one on that list I have accepts Workers Compensation. Please make sure that the appointment time is for _early_ afternoon, as it is the easiest time for me to have to travel by myself. When I drive I have to get pull over, or off the freeway quite frequently so I can get up and stretch. Life is easiest when I do not have to drive, I can generally endure with less stops.

Here is my email to Roderick about the appointments time issue.

Hi Roderick,

Today I received in the mail my appointment reminder for my appointment with Dr Freed, on Thursday July 15th @ 10:45am.

I really wish you would pay better attention to my requests, because if you remember I have asked you several times to make appointments for me durring the early afternoon (noon to 2pm), as it is the easiest time for me to have to travel by myself, there is less traffic and congestion, and it allows me more time to stop for breaks along the way. The appointment time will need to be changed, unless you are providing me transportation to the appointment, which will help with the long journey. When I have to drive, if I do not stop every 20 minutes, to get out and stretch for 5-10 minutes, by the time I get to where I am going, I will be in a world of pain.

ps. please remember to cc my father, whose email address is at the top.

Here is his response, dated June 15th.

Hello Rob,

I scheduled the appointment before I got your request. In any case, I have rescheduled it to accommodate your needs. Your new appointment will be on July 29, 2004 at 1:45 PM.

All this time could have been saved, if he had just asked me what time works best for me? Or responded faster to my queries. Now I have to wait 2 more weeks to begin any kind of treatment or see a Doctor who is hopefuly able to help me. I have searched online for any information regarding Dr Robert Freed, and have found none.
